Registration Process
Step 1: Visit Copyright Portal
Go to copyright.gov.in and create user account.
Step 2: File Form XIV
Online form with applicant details, work details, and category.
Step 3: Pay Government Fees
Rs 500-50,000 depending on work type. E.g., literary work Rs 500, software Rs 5,000.
Step 4: Upload Work Copy
Upload digital copy of work being registered.
Step 5: Wait for Diary Number
You get a diary number after submission. Wait 30 days mandatory waiting period.
Step 6: Examination
Copyright office examines application. May raise objections (uncommon).
Step 7: Get Registration Certificate
Certificate issued in 6-12 months if no objections. You can use © symbol with year.
